Trauma therapy that works

Distressed since your car accident? Confused, unsure of yourself and fearing an uncertain future? If you're struggling with insomnia, a loss of energy, chronic anxiety, feeling constantly on edge, easily agitated or annoyed, WE CAN HELP.

A counselling service like no other, Lighthouse Counselling was conceived upon the idea that those suffering from car accident related trauma deserve to have access to a service to help people get back a sense of control in their lives again.  We recognize how a car accident can leave you feeling uprooted, lost, and fear ridden.  Worst of all, psychological distress is an invisible wound, that unlike having a broken arm or leg is hard for those around you to understand. Often resulting in feelings of shame, isolation, and further suffering.  It has and will always be our goal to create a humane, caring space for people to heal from the unseen wounds, in addition to feeling understood in their struggle.

Lighthouse Counselling is service designed to specifically address this need, with the introduction of a NO FEE, FAST INTAKE (within 1 week of referral) trauma therapy service accessible to ICBC clients. Our team of experienced trauma therapists recognize that the trauma sufferer’s experience goes far beyond their accident.

Let us help you get back to normal again.

About Us

You aren’t alone. Every year thousands of British Columbians suffer from vehicle accident-related trauma. The resulting emotional distress leaves behind unseen wounds that often go unnoticed, leading to a worsening of symptoms and complicate recovery. If you’ve been involved in a serious motor vehicle accident (MVA) you are at increased risk for psychological problems such as depression, anxiety and particularly Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Your life may feel forever changed and without direction resulting in feelings of disconnection, confusion, isolation, and fear.

At Lighthouse Counselling our mission is to provide relief to those suffering from car accident-related trauma. Hello, my name is Robert Miles, founder and director of Lighthouse Counselling. I created Lighthouse Counselling with the sole aim to help those suffering from trauma find relief and regain a sense of power in their lives once again. After working with several hundred trauma survivors it became clear to me that many of these people were not receiving the guidance and support they so desperately needed. Their post-accident recovery often emphasized physical rehabilitation while largely neglecting treatment for the emotional scars incurred from their accident. In addition, many of these survivors were receiving the wrong sort of therapy, sometimes feeling spiritually broken and in the dark with little hope.

Lighthouse germinated from the idea of offering a fast intake, no fee counselling service that would offer real solutions rather than adopting a talk therapy or cognitive driven approach. The traumas we experience, after all, are largely emotionally based and therefore require a non-traditional approach.

At Lighthouse Counselling, we can provide that beam of light to help you find your way. Our core team of highly skilled and experienced trauma therapists are dedicated to helping you heal from these unseen wounds and experience a renewed sense of vitality and purpose. We are passionate about what we do and recognize the challenges faced by those feeling overwhelmed by life.

Reach out to us today to learn more about what we do and how we can help you on your healing journey.

We look forward to helping you find your way.

What Our Clients Say

  • 5 star review  My experience with Robert was very good. I was in a car accident and was having some rather heavy anxiety attacks after while driving. I found Robert to be very professional, empathetic and friendly And I felt very comfortable talking with him about my fears. We were having face to face sessions as well as with FaceTime when my work schedule was not allowing me to meet up. I learnt how to control and understand my anxieties. Robert was teaching me techniques that I could use by myself when I was feeling anxious.

“Trauma is like a sliver buried deep beneath the skin. At times we feel its presence and can’t rid ourselves of it soon enough. Other times we forget its there yet our bodies still react to it, and we don’t feel like ourselves.”
